SAFOD has engaged two consultants to deliver an initial 3-days hands-on online training target 20 participants from 5 countries (4 per country). The first phase of the virtual training will be held from 24 January 2021.
The identified trainers will also be oriented on the content of the advocacy package/toolkit created by SAFOD https://atlas-alliansen.no/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Advocacy-toolkit.pdf to guide or provide tips on how they can use the toolkit to identify issues for social media advocacy – beyond just imparting technical skills in effectively running advocacy campaigns using social media and other online tools.
A follow-up refresher one-day webinar for all participants will be held mid-term to fill any potential gaps that might have been identified by both the capacity assessments and the participants themselves.
After the training, one of the consultants will maintain ties with some of the trained youths/children and continue remotely providing them with technical support/advice, while an IT intern at the SAFOD Secretariat will work with her as an understudy.
The 20 social media ambassadors will then run a social media campaign, posting and creating content, storytelling and leveraging advanced social media management techniques, utilizing online tools such as blogging, vlogging (video blogging), and social media.
SAFOD recognizes that despite the drive for leveraging online technology, access remains a challenge because of various reasons including high data costs, limited or lack of internet connectivity especially in rural areas and limited access to smartphones in some cases, hence SAFOD will support the young ambassadors with data bundles and tablets as an immediate solution to effectively run the campaign.
